Inspiration

Due to virtual learning, we aren't able to have the same motivation to do anything out of the boundaries. So I decided to create awareness amongst my peers about the various scholarship options available. The app, Scholar allows 6th-12th graders to access scholarships in their interest.

How I built it

I built it using front end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and programmed the app on Qoom.

Challenges I ran into

The main challenge I ran into was coding an accordion style menu. It took me 2-3 hours to display the menu and understand the code. I was learning JavaScript, which was a bit challenging, but was a great experience. Also, Qoom only allowed me to create only 3 files, which meant I had to start on a small scale and work my way up to optimize all the important information in 3 files.

Accomplishments that I proud of

I am proud that I was able to present an app using front end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, enhancing the user's experience. I am happy that I was able to set myself goals on what I should complete each day in order to complete the app on time.

What I learned

First I learned that programming an app requires patience and is not so easy. Second, I was able to master my skills in HTML and CSS, through applying what I know in this app. Lastly, I learned how to make Scholar user interactive, by incorporating JavaScript.

What's next for Scholar

To take Scholar to the next level, I want to create a text box submission that allows the user to type in what they are interested in and with their input, as the programmer I want to filter the options, and display the most accurate scholarships that match their interests.
