Inspiration

Our goal is to be a leading metaverse for education.

Education has some of the best uses cases for an immersive metaverse, particularly for STEM subjects and language education.

Examples:

  • Chemical reaction simulations
  • Interact with 3D models of anatomy
  • Roleplay exercises for foreign languages (ordering food, boarding a flight etc)

Education is ripe for disruption in both delivery methods & business models.

We believe immersive interactive methods of class delivery with innovative Learn-to-Earn business models are the future of education.

Our initial target market is the private tutoring market which is set to reach $201.8 Billion by 2026. This segment has an easier path to market and strong business models compared to other segments in the education sector.

What it does

Educators (Teachers/Tutors/Trainers) can create 3D MiniVerses from a selection of education 3D scenes. Our content marketplaces include education-specific scenes, 3D models and curriculum for specific subjects.

Themes

Education not only requires a specific feature set to be effective but also has strong uses cases for interoperability with Web2 and traditional content. Educators can continue using their existing lesson plans and content (PDF, Video, Audio) interact using our real-time whiteboard or simply screen share.

Students attend focused sessions with their tutors for immersive lessons aimed at fun effective classes using "active learning" best principles.

We make it easy to transition to the future of education with a strong focus on supporting existing content and removing barriers to entry (logins/wallets/hardware are all optional) users can simply log in with a code or email on any browser.

We create NEAR sub-accounts programmatically and users only need to create wallets in order to claim/withdraw earnings)

Business model

We provide several free lesson plans and 3D environments, educators can purchase additional premium in-class assets like 3D props, learning environments, and lesson plans (sold as NFTs.)

We use smart contracts to seamlessly deduct royalties from student tuition fees to distribute to content creators.

Students can pay for their tuition via FIAT, NEAR or LTEC (our Learn-To-Earn Coin).

Academic records from their tutoring sessions are stored on NEAR blockchain with completion & test certificates issued as NFTs.

We charge a monthly subscription to education companies or private tutors, which goes to covering costs and a % to the rewards pool.

Educators and Students can earn $LTEC coins based on leaderboard rank. Points are based on a algorithm for class feedback, peer review, number of classes and other KPIs

How we built it

Frontend:

VueJS for NEAR web app using near-api-js (wallet, account management) React for Mozilla A-Frame & Hubs custom client

Backend:

Rust & NEAR CLI for smart contracts & custom FT $LTEC (LearnToEarn Coin) Node serverless rest API, Serverless Aurora DB and several Lambda microservices

The 3D environment is using Mozilla A-Frame and custom fork of hubs, we've developed specific features for our use case including integrating with LearnCube's Whiteboard and NEAR's blockchain.

What we learned

NEAR blockchain provides all the infrastructure to deal with easy licensing & royalty payments as well as being the backend for our in-app LearnCoin, which opens up opportunities for more innovative business models such as play "LearnToEarn".

Long term we believe in NEARs vision for scalability, particularly with uses cases that require high scale smart contracts.
