Inspiration
We came across the idea while discussing a close relative who is suffering from memory loss. This person would struggle to remember basic pieces of information. We were therefore inspired to solve this problem by creating this application.
What it does
Lia is made to be an assistant for people who are suffering memory loss at any stage in their life. It does so by using artificial intelligence and a chat service by choosing the best response for a given question.
How we built it
We built Lia’s AI using python and JSON. The website was built using MERN which stands for MongoDB, Express, React, Node.
Challenges we ran into.
Using twilio to remind the user of Lia to go for their screening every week was tough as it was hard to import many libraries into python. The AI’s questions were tedious and time consuming to figure out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the implementation of the AI model into the application. Proud of how visually appealing our website is. Our logo is minimalist showcasing the simplicity of Lia. Proud of the knowledge gained by the research done for memory loss.
What we learned
We learned the science behind memory loss and the various causes for it. Learned how to create an AI on python whilst using JSON.
What's next for Lia
We want to expand Lia, so it is extremely adaptable, for example build an apple watch app for it. Make the AI even more powerful and in general quicker than what it is right now. The application has the potential to implement deep learning and an AI model that learns about the patient during his life.
