Inspiration
We saw so many languages fading away. Each week a tongue can vanish forever. We wanted a way for people to learn and save these voices at the same time.
What it does
LanguaLife teaches your chosen heritage tongue with short audio lessons. As you speak it checks pronunciation and gives tips. Every session also adds your voice to a shared library that researchers and families can browse.
Challenges we ran into
Building a model that works on limited data was hard. We had to crowdsource samples and clean up recordings. Getting real time feedback on many devices took extra tuning.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
We built live voice scoring that feels smooth on mobile. Our community upload portal lets anyone add a new sample in seconds. And we launched a prototype in two weeks that passed our first user tests.
What we learned
Small data sets need careful cleaning and smart augmentation. On device audio AI can run fast if we keep the model size tiny. And learners love seeing their own voice saved for history.
What’s next for LanguaLife
We will add lesson sharing so small groups can create custom courses together. We will expand our archive to include songs and stories. And we will build a desktop app so elders can join in too.
