Inspiration

The inspiration for Linkster arose from the challenges faced by network builders in Web3 who rely on Telegram for event connections. The bloated experience, unencrypted conversations, and difficulty managing various chats prompted the creation of a streamlined solution.

What it does

Linkster is a mobile app transforming Web3 event connections. Event organizers issue Polygon ID certificates for in-person authentication, granting users access and the ability to connect through end-to-end encrypted XMTP messaging. The freemium model allows event organizers and users, to provide flexibility and premium features.

How we built it

The mobile app integrates Polygon ID SDK and XMTP SDK, creating a DID for the user, fetching credentials, and enabling QR code scanning. The backend hosts an issuer node, creating endpoints for event and personal credential creation, as well as verification. Blockchain integration involves deployment on Avalanche Fuji, using Chainlink data feeds for automatic payments and CCIP for interoperability between Polygon and Avalanche.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges included integrating various SDKs, ensuring secure authentication, and implementing blockchain interactions. Achieving interoperability between Polygon and Avalanche and utilizing Chainlink data feeds presented technical complexities. Initially, we wanted to spin up a subnet and bring Chainlink to subnets, but there were local deployment issues that the Ava Labs team flagged (edge case reported and submitted) which consumed time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Key accomplishments include successfully implementing Polygon ID, authenticating users, fetching and storing credentials securely. The creation of a streamlined XMTP conversation flow, efficient event and personal credential generation, and deployment on Avalanche are notable achievements.

What we learned

The project provided valuable insights into the integration of diverse SDKs, secure authentication, and the intricacies of blockchain interoperability. Overcoming technical challenges enhanced our understanding of the complexities involved in creating a seamless networking solution.

What's next for Linkster

The next steps for Linkster involve refining and expanding its feature set. This includes enhancing user profiles, optimizing event management, and exploring additional blockchain integrations. The goal is to continually elevate the Web3 networking experience and offer a comprehensive solution for event connections.
