Inspiration
We wanted to provide a safety app tailored towards students on campus, or even anyone who's alone and wants to let their close ones know where they are and if they are safe.
What it does
We have an alert/emergency button that's supposed to send an alert as well as a live location to their chosen contacts
How we built it
We used Swift for both the front and backend and used Firebase for the database.
Challenges we ran into
Using Github and Swift was a huge obstacle and our project kept crashing or not updating, and it was very time-consuming to resend the project or create a new one when it wasn't working. It was also a challenge to work with Swift since none of us ever worked with it before, so it was definitely a learning curve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of being able to learn a new language and see how an app is built since we’ve never done something like this before. We definitely learned a lot and we’re also proud of working as a team and getting this much done in a time crunch.
What we learned
We learned Swift and Firebase and how to build an app from scratch.
What's next for LiveSafety
Integrating an AI voice detection feature so when the user shouts words like “Nine One One” the app can immediately call 911 for them.
