Localtrail - Community-first transparency in the supply chain

Problem

The process of establishing a data trail of the food and dairy supply chain from farm > warehouse > market > retailer is very manual and incentivizes dishonest behavior. Also currently, users have no good way of trustlessly knowing if their food is coming from the place that retailers say it is.

Solution

We want to provide a community-first, transparent blockchain solution to track produce from farm to supply center to the end user. We will be building on the Hyperledger runtime engine and using Tieron’s Chainpoint Node API. We are using React Native, JavaScript and Hyperledger Composer native languages.

Farmer enters in package data (food item, quantity, type, etc.) Farmer scans one of many QR code stickers. Data from client app is tied to unique QR code ID. Farmer submits data to blockchain. Farmer ships package to Warehouse.
