Inspiration

Magic Wristband was inspired by the vision of creating a versatile, inclusive alarm system that goes beyond auditory or visual cues. Our team aimed to empower individuals with disabilities by providing a simple yet effective solution for reminders and time tracking.

What it does

Magic Wristband is a tactile alarm system that allows users to set reminders and track time intervals. Using a user-friendly interface with buttons for timer control, it provides a gentle vibrating sensation as an alarm, making it suitable for individuals with visual or hearing impairments.

How we built it

Our team utilized Arduino, a buzzer, two push buttons, and a breadboard to create a prototype that mimics the final wristband design. We carefully integrated hardware components, emphasizing a comfortable and adaptable design. The code was crafted to ensure seamless functionality while maintaining simplicity for user interaction.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges we faced was working within the constraints of limited hardware availability. Due to this limitation, we had to make innovative choices in our hardware selection. Instead of a buzzer, we utilized a beeper to simulate the desired vibrating alarm. Additionally, the lack of physical wristbands posed a challenge, preventing us from creating a scaled-down, tangible prototype.

The absence of microchips and microcontrollers small enough to be directly attached to a wristband restricted our ability to create a physical embodiment of the Magic Wristband. However, these resource constraints sparked creativity and prompted us to explore alternative solutions, emphasizing adaptability in our design.

We also ran into challenges with correctly implementing the push button into our program but after retracing our steps and carefully analyzing the circuit board, solved the problem and built something that worked efficiently and effectively.

In overcoming these challenges, we are proud to present a functional prototype that showcases the essence of the Magic Wristband. Our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility remained unwavering, leading us to innovate with the available resources, ultimately demonstrating the adaptability and potential of the concept.
