Mailstorm was born from the dorm rooms of four lazy engineering students at the University of Waterloo. Too caught up in our fast-paced student lives, we neglected our physical mail boxes for an entire term and failed to read some important government documents that were sent to us. Thus, we decided to develop a modern solution to enhance the traditional experience of picking up the mail. Mailstorm senses when a new letter is placed in a mail box, takes a picture of the letter and parses the text on the envelope. It notifies recipients when letters come and tells them whether or not it is important. Our project has many different applications for a wide demographic. From lazy college students to seniors trying to sort their spam mail to people with disabilities who want to limit their travelling time.
