Inspiration

When going to eat out at restaurants with friends, we often felt that it would take up too much of our time. First, we had to wait to be seated, then spend more time going over the menu deciding what to eat and then wait again for our order to be taken and our food to be made. Additionally, we felt the inefficiency was hurting the bottom line of restaurants.

What it does

The Master Menu is an innovative application that ameliorates customers' dining experiences while also expanding restaurant capacity. Essentially this application allows you to input foods you like, dislike, allergies or dietary restrictions and takes all this information to sort a digital menu. In this way the dishes you are most likely to order will be at the top, eliminating the need to read through a menu again. Moreover, once you have decided on a dish you like, you can pre-order the dish so that the restaurant will get started ahead of time and have it ready within minutes of your arrival.

How I built it

We built it primarily using HTML/CSS, with some JavaScript functionality. We also worked with some Google APIs, to add to our website.

Challenges I ran into

A big challenge we faced was completing everything that we wanted to in the limited time period we had. As a result, we weren't able to program all the functionalities we would have liked to. However, we didn't let this discourage us and implemented what we could get to, to the best of our abilities.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We're proud that we stayed committed to our project and put as much time as we possibly could into it. We are proud that we were able to make a very presentable final product, while also learning a lot along the way.

What I learned

We've learned about the fundamentals of UI and what makes a professional website. We learned about how to use Google APIs and ended up incorporating some into our project. Finally, we learned more about the development process of creating a website and that it is vital to do a lot of planning before even starting to code your HTML framework.

What's next for Master Menu

After the hackathon, we'll be looking to implement all the features we initially planned to include and also looking to use React Native to turn it into an application.

Currently, you can access with domain: http://mastermenu.live/. Also had crashing problems, its titled MasterMenu
