E-Destination (formerly matrix recycling)

Inspiration

Our inspiration came from always having a sustainable mindset, and at a hackathon, where there is an abundance of electronics, we decided to help passionate tech enthusiasts like us become a true environmental warrior.

What it does

Our app connects customers with E-Waste recycling plants based on the E-Waste they have, and it offers them incentive for choosing to recycle.

How we built it

We used HTML/CSS for the front end, and Python (Flask) for the backend. We implemented Google Cloud Platform to help us map the locations for these plants.

Challenges we ran into

The lack of sleep and the conflicting schedules made it hard for all of us to work together, and at the same time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Meeting new people and creating a project that we feel has a true mission in this world. Sustainability is important, especially in the massive waste caused by these electronics.

How to be accommodating and how to incorporate a full web app that has true potential.

Introducing a mobile side and expanding our network to more plants. Adding opportunities for companies to add their info easily.
