Inspiration

we wanted to make an expirience similar to a romance bot but one that actually help you create connections to real people. thinking on the theme of human-AI collaboration and connecting things that otherwise wouldn't be to make the world a better place. We wanted to build a product that lets you mingle and socialize in a way that's fun, wacky and rooted in creativity.

What it does

users can create a character and view other peoples characters. they can then initiate a session and write simple sentences to create new story blocks, creating an evolving and dynamic story. if they are enjoying a chat and want to meet the other person behind it, they can then message them directly to form a connection. we also have an AI powered "Oracle" which predicts your best matches on the platform to chat with.

How we built it

we initially split into 2 sub-teams, one handling character creation and management and one handling the Open AI API and messaging. We created a demo that worked locally, before expanding to use supabase and Talk.js to enable communication between clients and email verification.

Challenges we ran into

we struggled to configure Talk.js and had some issues moving data onto supabase which had previously been stored in vercel local storage. integrating the AI layer into Talk.js was an area of difficulty.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

learned react and talk.js in the same day. big overnight shift :)

What we learned

we've learned a lot about react, since few of us had previous experience with it. We've also learned the value of properly planning before jumping straight into coding, especially when each working on distinct areas.

What's next for Meblur

some more bug fixing and functionality. especially, setting up the client-client communication through the AI layer. we have a lot of idea's to expand meblur into a full platform.
