Inspiration
We wanted to merge analog nostalgia with modern tech — think Morse code, Walkmans, and Polaroids, reimagined for today. Memorix is our digital love letter to retro culture, made fun and functional.
What it does
Memorix brings the past to life with: ->A Morse code converter for encoding messages. ->A Walkman-style music player powered by iTunes search. ->A Polaroid meme generator for creating vintage-style memes. All wrapped in a pixelated, ambient interface.
How we built it
We used React, HTML/CSS/JS, and public APIs. Custom logic handles Morse encoding. The retro vibe comes from pixel fonts, neon effects, and 80s-style visuals. Components are cleanly separated for easy scaling.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing a consistent retro look with modern usability was tough. Integrating multiple APIs and keeping the layout responsive without breaking the aesthetic took finesse.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a cohesive, interactive experience in a short time. Each feature feels polished, and the retro theme ties everything together in a way that feels both fun and purposeful.
What we learned
We sharpened our skills in API handling, component design, and responsive UI. Most importantly, we learned how to bring a strong visual theme to life without compromising functionality.
What's next for Memorix
Coming soon: ->Morse chat between users ->Custom mixtapes ->A community meme wall
