Inspiration
Mendel fields it's inspired on the need to fully automate and scale the Jira automations making them way easier to maintain.
What it does
It creates a Matrix where we can map the values of one field depending on the values of other ones
How we built it.
We used the extensional definition of a set to build the Matrix and correctly map the values depending on the inputs.
Challenges we ran into
How to avoid redundancies among the configurations and to not enter in a never ending loop due to redundancies among the fields.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The results obtained with the automations and the modifications, we were able to fully represent in a friendly way the whole scope of the nested conditions that the Jira Automations can have.
What we learned
That there a lot of complex conditions that makes the Jira Automations a powerful tool but also very complex to manage.
What's next for Mendel Fields
To keep expanding the amount of field types that can be used or configured on the matrices.
