Inspiration
We were inspired to make a project that is socially inclusive to all people.
What it does
SignOff takes the user's input of letters and/or numbers and outputs the American Sign Language translation.
How we built it
We built SignOff by utilizing HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. We used these to make a project that would allow for user to input and be given pictures of the ASL translation of their input.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge for our project was trying to find a free API, but we could not find one and had to change how our project would work. Other challenges include getting the pictures to show up correctly on the website and the formatting of the website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to finish our first ever hackathon as we did not know what to expect. We are also proud that we made a meaning project that allows people to help communicate with one another.
What we learned
We learned how to use GitHub and git commands which helped us to share code with one another and show different aspects of each others thought process.
What's next for SignOff
We hope to have more braille languages implemented on the website.
