Inspiration

Since we are all students in one of the most stressful parts of the year, we wanted to create a responsive web app that alleviated some of the stress. We all have tons of notes and are tired of misusing GPT, and Quizlet is boring and doesn't have too many features, which is why we wanted to gamify the study process a little through flash cards. So we thought why not, lets build something that we think is better!

What it does

'''Our goal with this project was to create a platform that organizes your courses and through uploading your notes or even lecture recordings, it will return study guides, flash cards, or podcasts for when you are on the go.'''

How we built it

For MindStation, we developed and focused on the interface design in Figma, coded the front end in React, and did the backend in Javascript and Python while using Gemini AI for our AI.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge was coding the front and back-end, since we have little experience and this is our first time working with API's and AI. We've attached our progress, but we believe since we had to learn how to code these things, more time would have really solidified our project. While we had lots of main features that we wanted to execute, most of our time was spent building the space to host them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of everything we have made, especially for being relatively beginner hackers, and we are happy to have built a product that we would actually use. Our teammate Samira literally learned React this weekend and came up with a great result!

What we learned

We learned so much about the process of building and working to create a project from scratch, including using AI and API's.

What's next for MindStation

If we had more time, or endless time really, we would like to expand the accessibility of this product to include functioning podcast descriptions, or interactive flashcards for when you are on the go or have trouble using only text. Future integrations for Docs, Notion, or research apps like Zotero would be great to have a fully functioning and useful study tool, which helps avoid the last minute cram studying. Lastly, for engagement purposes, the ability to build your own study roadmap would be a great feature, so you can track your progress as you go along. We had a blast and a real learning experience working on this project, and it will definitely inform how we create things in the future!
