Inspiration

Play-to-earn games are gaining huge popularity, especially in emerging markets like Southeast Asia. However, the tokenomics sustainability remains questionable as it relies on new joiners to fund the ecosystem. Meanwhile, the data collection and labeling market is growing rapidly as more businesses are building out AI capabilities. We are bridging the play-to-earn model and data collection & labeling market - expected at $20B - catering to a wide variety of B2B customers looking to build their AI capabilities, such as Google, Tesla, Amazon, and the next generation of tech startups.

What it does

Mine2Mine is revolutionizing play-to-earn model by creating sustainable tokenomics. Unlike the current P2E model, which requires significant upfront investment by players, Mine2Mine reduces this barrier to entry and generates a true revenue stream based on capturing real business needs (the data collection and labeling). Through our simple gameplay, we are also leveling the playing field and allowing more folks to play and earn. We are a house of games but will be built on a single token.

How we built it

The Polygon chain is the single source of truth for Mine2Mine's data (tasks & submissions). Audio files are stored on IPFS, ensuring that there is a permanent link from the hash stored on-chain to the audio content. Our server ingests contract events to provide a faster experience to users. We built our front-end using Flutter, and it interacts directly with Polygon, IPFS, and the caching server. Our B2B portal and verification game are built in React.

Challenges we ran into

We had minimal smart contract experience and wrote the contract from scratch. Web3 integration was new to us, and we had to deal with some less-traveled paths such as Flutter+Web3 and backend event ingesting. Finally, the time crunch, 30 hours is not quite enough time to code all that we envision for our product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to build a strong team dynamic despite the fact that we just met a day ago. We managed to conduct a solid team launch through communicated team goals from the start. The team has a strong persistence in working under an intense deadlines - yet we worked well in parallel together. Technically, we managed to build three apps in just a day, including two games and a B2B portal. Above all, we managed to do all of the above while learning a lot more about the possibilities of web3 and while having fun!

What we learned

We learned many things over the past 30 hours, including a) how to build sustainable tokenomics for play-to-earn games, including by doing benchmarking to existing play-to-earn model and current data collection & labeling service, b) how to develop robust tech implementation using new blockchain technology, especially Polygon, c) how to work with new team members coming from completely diverse background (MIT, Harvard, Boston University; US, China, Korea, Indonesia; Tech, AI, Product, Business) and work

What's next for Mine2Mine

Next steps: Product development side: we are going to do validation with audio tokenization v1, launch image tokenization, sell NFT to extend gameplay and social leadership, and launch DAO (refer to slide 12). Business development side: build partnership with the tech companies looking to outsource the AI data collection and labeling such as Google and Amazon, acquire game users in target countries like Philippines and Indonesia, marketing and branding targeting the under-served gamer market such as female users.
