Inspiration
We wanted to address the lack of representation of minorities in the industry and celebrate the diversity in tech!
Hackathon submissions are conducted online and participants gather in a community. Something coming from a diversity perspective is still needed to make minorities and women confident in participating in hackathons and forming groups among themselves, finding right teammates and participate in hackathon events focusing on diversity hacks!
Miss Match connects you to potential hack partners where you can find your teammate according to your time zone and tech skills!
What it does
We have implemented a webpage which contains an event page of upcoming hackathons, resources to get started before participating in hacks, and much more!
So once someone lands on to hackathon page, they see list of hackathons where they can join and find teammates based on an input form. They fill up the form which asks for their skill, areas of interests etc., and then matches it with other hackers' inputs to find the best partners to team up with. When they are partnered, they can use the chatapp!
If they are afraid to participate in hacks , they can use resources section to see wonderful resources we researched for the general technologies like html css js react etc.
How we built it
We first designed multiple pages using Figma, and then used HTML CSS and JS to construct the project. When inputting the form, the html inputs are converted to Json, then the Json is turned into Python objects to match accordingly. The chat app uses firebase (google cloud) to store messages.
Challenges we ran into
Since only 1 member knew how to work with html css and js and others were beginner , we had a very hard time coming up with this idea and making this project. It was difficult for them as they were very new to css and HTML but still they gave their best and we made whatever we could.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In the given time we were able to make a good solution for diversity in tech and implemented it as well even if people were new to html css and js.

We learned how to design pages using HTML,CSS and Js
What's next for Miss Match
We will be using machine learning to match the people with other people once we learn about it more and then add video call feature to talk to the teammaters in groups.
