Inspiration
When people consider relocating or planning vacations, climate becomes a crucial factor. Whether seeking undiscovered tropical destinations or thinking about moving to a more suitable climate, finding the perfect location can be challenging. Climate Harmony addresses this need by assisting the individual locating their ideal destinations with their preferred climate.
What it does
Climate Harmony allows the end user to input their preferred climate conditions, and then generates locations that match those preferences. Users can specify preferences ranging from tropical to dry, with options to customize desired temperature and humidity ranges. Additionally, users can indicate their preferred rainfall levels. Once preferences are set, it shows a list of matching locations, marked with location pins for easy visualization. Each location is accompanied by detailed information, including average high and low temperatures, humidity levels, and average rainfall.
How we built it
Due to time constraints, we opted to utilize Figma exclusively for our design process. Our workflow began with sketching the desired website layout, followed by creating a prototype to visualize its appearance and functionality. Subsequently, we developed the UX design, refining it through the creation of local components to incorporate animations and enhance user interaction.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered several challenges during the project. As a beginner, creating animations proved to be time-consuming, yet it was an enjoyable learning experience. Additionally, time constraints hindered our ability to fully realize our vision for the project, as our busy schedules limited the extent of what we could accomplish.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our achievements in learning animation, as experimenting with interactions on Figma proved to be an enjoyable experience. Creating the home page was also really fun!
What we learned
We discovered animation and local components in Figma, which was enjoyable. We also realized the importance of having a consistent color scheme, which really helped improve our design.
What's next for Climate Harmony
Climate Harmony's next step is to begin coding and make the platform fully functional.
