Inspiration
Our inspiration came from twitch, the number of streamers using twitch for streaming mobile games like clash of clans
What it does
Allows you to stream anything that you are doing on your phone screen and to view it on other mobile devices.
How we built it
We built it using a amazon ec2 server and used rtsp connections to stream the video.
Challenges we ran into
There were many challenges, android doesn't have built in streaming so we had to record the display and upload to the server a small part of the recording at a time. This caused us great difficulty as restarting the recording was difficult. Also, we would then download the clips and join them on the viewers mobile device but android doesn't have any built in functions for converting packets and we ended up not being able to upload it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to upload recordings of the display and then stream that onto the viewer's mobile phone even if it is a bit sporradic.
What we learned
We learnt a great deal about web servers ,streaming technology and about media codecs and compression.
What's next for Mobile.me
We're going to keep working on it and try and iron out any issues and add much needed features like commenting and being able see streams on a website
