Inspiration
Jenna's love of makeup was the first inspiration for our app. Seeing as how makeup is expensive, it is helpful to know what colors go well together. In addition, the monochromatic makeup trend is quite popular in the fashion world currently.
What it does
The app allows the user to take a picture of an article of clothing or another makeup product. The app then matches the color of the picture to makeup products that are close to the color.
How we built it
Jenna was the brains behind the android and design while Malcolm helped with the back end using the Google Cloud to create a database.
Challenges we ran into
Finding how to incorporate the camera into the app was one of the biggest challenges we faced, but we also found trouble finding the necessary color values.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud our app isn't basic and it accomplishes something that isn't common.
What we learned
We learned the struggle of working with APIs and how back end work can be just as important as the UI.
What's next for Monochrome
We hope to fully integrate the camera and Vision API to create more of what we had envisioned with our prototype in Adobe xd.
