MyList

Inspiration

Sometimes there are things that I want written down somewhere but I don't have a pen or paper to write it down with. The inspiration for the skill came from the frustration with having a million things on my mind that I want to have saved without having to deal with thinking about where those things go.

What it does

MyList is a streamlined text-based list that allows the management and retrieval of information whether it be a reminder to buy groceries or a memo to yourself. This skill simplifies the way people save information that's on their mind.

How we built it

We built the skill using the "alexa-sdk" in Node.js, Amazon's "Interaction Model" tool, and to test it all, we used Amazon's test simulator.

Challenges we ran into

Unhandled intents occasionally caused problems, but as we worked out the kinks, we seemed to have fixed the issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making a smart skill that (for the most part) understands what you want even if you switch up your language a bit.

What we learned

We better learned how to use Amazon's "Interaction Model" tool in addition to all the other great tools at our disposal in the developer console.

What's next for MyList

For now, we are done, but we will likely update the skill based on feedback.
