Inspiration
An app made BY long-distance friends FOR long-distance friends. Trying to overcome the difficulties of keeping up friendships in the face of conflicting schedules and time zones, and lack of communication between loved ones after moving away or living abroad.
What it does
Provides a variety of interesting and engaging virtual activities over which friends can connect.
How we built it
The development process began with defining the core concept and key features of the app’s user flow. We started by building a barebone Expo-based mobile application, implementing a React Native front-end, and integrating various JavaScript libraries to enhance functionality. During the process of development, we incorporated additional dependencies to improve performance and functionality. Many cans of Celsius were included in the making of this application.
Challenges we ran into
Learning curve: Expo was completely new to all of us, and we also began with limited JS experience. Time crunch: a lot of deep ideas that needed to be implemented in a short time frame. Staying awake
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making the UI as clean and coherent as our code.
What we learned
How to hack - with Javascript, Expo, and React
What's next for neverfar
Larger userbase, scalability, speed, and more interesting features! Better integration of databases to optimize communication between different users!
