Inspiration
This project was inspired by an xkcd comic, where the author's laptop has a "night shift" mode that makes everyone's writing less opinionated, therefore captivating the user less.
What it does
Our extension allows you to change a slider, ranging from SUPER-nonchalant, to SUPER-chalant. Upon clicking apply and reloading the page, the page content changes to accommodate this. Try it on this page!
How we built it
Packing it into a chrome extension, the extension interacts with the Google Gemini API. Feeding it HTML elements, the API gives us the text with the correct level of "chalantness", where we then re-stitch into the webpage.
Challenges we ran into
Our team ran into many challenges, from getting Javascript to run in an extension, to re-stitching HTML correctly. Using AI efficiently is one thing we kept in mind so we can maximize our API tokens.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are all super proud of starting from an idea, to having a perfectly working minimum viable product! As this is some of our member's first ever hackathon, we are all super thrilled to be handing in this extension!
What we learned
We learned that organization is key, having clear communication and an organized Github repo is super key.
What's next for nonchalanter
idk we might work on it or might not. just chill and lowkey dgaf.
