Inspiration
As busy students navigating the challenges of university, we conceived a tool to enhance our daily routines. Motivated by the desire for a more efficient study aid, we set out to create a device that could everyone in their studies.
What it does
A Google Chrome extension that seamlessly integrates with your YouTube experience. It allows you to bookmark videos and take notes, automatically saving them to a complementary website. The website organizes your notes neatly and offers ChatGPT summaries for your saved videos.
How we built it
Using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, we developed a Google Chrome extension for seamless video bookmarking. Additionally, we created a user-friendly website to organize bookmarks and notes, employing Firebase as a robust backend for real-time synchronization. Integrating ChatGPT AI enhanced the website, providing insightful summaries of saved videos.
Challenges we ran into
We divided tasks in between all member's but as time ran out, we had difficulty integrating all members' parts together.

What we learned
Throughout this project, we gained valuable insights into various aspects of software development. Web development taught us the intricacies of crafting user-friendly interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Google Chrome extension development expanded our understanding of browser-based functionalities and enhanced user experiences. Delving into database development with Firebase allowed us to create a robust backend for seamless data synchronization. The integration of APIs, particularly with ChatGPT, added an intelligent layer to our tool. One key takeaway is the importance of improved collaboration for better integration, ensuring that all pieces of the project fit seamlessly. This experience underscored the significance of cohesive teamwork in achieving a more harmonious and efficient development process.
What's next for NoteVid
The next phase for NoteVid involves elevating the user experience by transitioning to cloud-based storage through Firebase. This move aims to enhance data accessibility and seamless synchronization between the Chrome extension and the website. Implementing robust authentication mechanisms will provide users with secure access, ensuring the privacy of their notes and bookmarks. One of our key objectives is to introduce collaborative features, enabling users to share bookmarks and take notes collectively. By facilitating simultaneous note-taking for multiple users, NoteVid aspires to foster a collaborative learning environment, expanding its utility beyond individual use. This evolution represents our commitment to continuous improvement and delivering an even more versatile and collaborative tool for our users.
