Inspiration

The idea originated while we were trying to create a film for this competition using the free credits provided by Flow. Despite the simplicity of our goal, we constantly ran into technical bugs and system errors. Realizing that many other filmmakers were facing the same limitations, we envisioned a comedic film about creators who never managed to finish their projects because of these glitches. We began imagining how even legendary directors would struggle if they were making films with today’s AI tools — and what kind of chaos that might create. This led to the creation of our host: a charismatic otter who runs a reality-style show, interviewing frustrated filmmakers about their incomplete projects and their experiences navigating the challenges of AI filmmaking.

What it does

The film uses a comedic talk-show format to highlight two real issues: the technical bugs in current AI video tools, and how many creative ideas never become films simply because some users can’t afford more credits. While the otter host and the interviews are funny, the film subtly exposes the gap between creativity and access.

How we built it

The project was fully created using the VEO3 AI video model, then edited and assembled in CapCut. The entire production took around two months, from prompt design and visual testing to final editing and sound polishing.

Challenges we ran into

During production, we encountered a series of technical inconsistencies inherent to current AI video-generation systems. These included unexpected voice changes in characters, sudden disappearance of generated models, involuntary shifts in camera direction, and frequent dialogue desynchronization. Such instability made maintaining narrative coherence difficult; however, these very challenges became central to the film’s thematic focus and informed its comedic structure.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite all the challenges, limitations, and technical issues we faced, we managed to create the best possible result with minimal resources. This project proved to us that with creativity and persistence, it’s possible to produce something we can genuinely be proud of.

What we learned

One of our most meaningful achievements in this project was gaining a deeper understanding of AI-powered filmmaking tools. Throughout production, we identified the strengths and limitations of these systems and developed practical strategies for working around their technical constraints. We learned how to craft environments, characters, and narrative flow more effectively within the boundaries of AI video generation. This project significantly enhanced our ability to use these tools creatively and efficiently.

What's next for OTV

Through this film, we created a main character with strong potential for future projects. Our next goal is to develop a YouTube-based talk show hosted by this character. We are currently preparing the concept, and we plan to begin developing the show very soon.
