Inspiration

The inspiration behind PathwayAdvice is the pressing need to empower and support first-generation students. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by these students, we wanted to create a platform that would provide them with the necessary guidance and resources to navigate their journey to their success.

What it does

PathwayAdvice is a platform dedicated to empowering first-generation students through their journey. It offers tailored tools, resources, and advice to help these students overcome the challenges they face to ultimately achieve their academic and personal goal for the long run.

How we built it

We built PathwayAdviceusing modern web technologies such as React and Material UI, ensuring a responsive and user-friendly interface. We first researched the problems of first generation low income (FGLI) students that they usually face and set up curated tools to help solve these issues.

Challenges we ran into

Building a platform that caters to a diverse group of first-gen students presented its challenges. From ensuring inclusivity in our content to integrating resources that cater to various academic fields, we faced several hurdles. Additionally, ensuring the platform remained user-friendly and intuitive was a constant challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of the positive feedback we've received from first-gen students who have benefited from PathwayAdvice. Seeing possible real world applications and knowing that our platform can make a difference in students' lives is our greatest accomplishment.

What we learned

Throughout the development of PathwayAdvice, we learned the power of teamwork and collaboration. Researching about our target audience and understanding their needs was crucial in shaping the platform. We also gained insights into the unique challenges faced by first-gen students and the importance of providing them with the right support to create the best quality tools.

What's next for PathwayAdvice

We plan to expand PathwayAdvice by integrating more resources, hosting webinars, and collaborating with educational institutions. We are going to perfect our tools and add more helpful ones to ensure students go on the right paths and succeed with their goals. Our goal is to reach first-gen students globally and continue making a positive impact on their journey.
