Inspiration
My experiences with great online learning platforms like Khan Academy and Coursera inpsired this idea for a tool that simplifies the process of searching for quality online learning content. I really enjoy learning from video as well as supplimental text materials, but the early stages of searching for related content can be very time consuming, so I came up with this idea.
What it does
Pencil Case is just as its name suggests. Here is a web app that provides a search and filter tool for high quality learning content to spark your interest in any subject you choose to learn. You filter your subject by topic and Pencil Case will give you results of educational content creators that produce materials related to your subject. This experimental app is an exploration of the future of learning in the age of web3 paradigms and AI-assisted search. It will be an interesting time to watch the unfolding of new ideas and experiences that grow out of these technologies.
How we built it
To build the main function for Pencil Case, technologies were employed to make our content creator search: programmable search engine with google Hedera blockchain to verify learner-teacher digital interaction, by signing engagement and teacher ratings
Challenges we ran into
Project management - finding an idea that would not be too small nor too big to carry out for the hackathon
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Honing my web3 smart contract skills through Hedera tutorials Getting better at python through MLH workshops Executing an idea that has been an interest of mine
What we learned
Python programming; Web3 smart contract development; project management and product design.
What's next for Pencil Case
I would love to hear user-feedback from others on this idea and anyone that wants to have it as an app to help their indepentent learning.
