Inspiration
Decision making can be very fatiguing specially if is with something that releases high levels of endorphins and dopamine leading you to view a purchase as a must even if your wallet might say otherwise.
What it does
Instead of purchasing a piece how about look at how it will look like with clothes you already have. Even better give yourself the freedom to pair multiple items together and visualize the outfit. Last but not least buy the outfit with the use of google reverse image search - you might find the same item for a lower price.
How we built it
With the flexibility of React Native, Figmas friendly wire frame tools and JavaScript scripting.
Challenges we ran into
- Difficulty finding clothes catalogs.
- Working around framework errors.
- Thinking of a way to correctly format and label our synthetic catalogs.
- Setting realistic goals, this wasn't much of an issue but it was hard not to think about all the potential improvements and features that can still be included in the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Swipe feature
- Communication and sharing ideas
- Generating our own clothes json catalog
- Trying out a new framework
- Being creative and maybe out of the ordinary with our project idea
What we learned
- how to use React & React Native
- debugging in react
- time management, we attended almost all the workshops and still managed to create the mvp
What's next for PerfectOutfit
Disclaimer: the app is currently in a very premature stage. We plan to implement buying outfits (potentially utilizing google reverse image search to find the lowest price), the option to upload your own images of clothing items you already own, and ai image generation to visualize the outfits being worn by the user. We also want to spend more time polishing the app's functionality and design.
