Inspiration
We were inspired by games like Cookie Clicker. We have fond memories of clicker games like that when we were younger. That's why we made Pirate Clicker, so you can pirate and plunder to your heart's desire.
What it does
Pirate Clicker is a game about collecting as much gold as possible, by unlocking new units and upgrades, and plundering your opponent's loot for your own gain.
How we built it
We built it in raw HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. There is a backend python flask server that deals with data management and distribution.
Challenges we ran into
We drastically underestimated the amount of time it would take to code the entire project. We had trouble debugging, and code quality was not superb by the end of the challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of all of the original pixel art, and the way the game flows in a fun, creative way. We are proud of our teamwork skills and collaboration.
What we learned
In the future, it is essential that we use a frontend JavaScript framework. If we had done this, we would of had much more time to complete the project. In retrospect, using a common CRUD backend tool would have helped with time efficiency, as a custom made flask application was not good for creation speed.
What's next for Pirate Clicker
We will be adding multiplayer, more upgrades, bugfixes, and more aesthetic changes.
