Inspiration

Plannect was inspired by the idea that people pass by each other every day, each with their own unique knowledge and experiences. We realized that there was a missed opportunity to connect with others and learn from them. That's why we created Plannect, a platform that allows you to receive notifications as you pass by someone who shares similar interests or expertise in something you are curious about.

By leveraging geolocation technology, Plannect allows users to connect with like-minded individuals in their immediate vicinity. With Plannect, you can start a conversation with someone right then and there. Our platform empowers individuals to connect with others, share their knowledge, and learn from others in a meaningful and impactful way.

We believe that everyone has something valuable to offer, and that by connecting people with similar interests and expertise, we can create a more connected and collaborative society. That's why Plannect is committed to making it easy and convenient for individuals to connect with others and share their knowledge, wherever they may be. With the spread of information, we will enable more minds to tackle important problems in our society.

What it does

Plannect is an AI-powered platform that helps individuals connect with others who share similar interests and knowledge. It achieves this by first providing users with a survey of deep-rooted questions to understand their fundamental goals and interests. Users are then guided to share their learning desires and current expertise while creating a profile. As users navigate their location, the platform uses Mapbox API to notify them when someone with similar interests or an individual who is knowledgeable in a topic of interest is nearby. Plannect matches users with these individuals and spurs conversations based on AI algorithms, making the conversation more engaging and worthwhile.

How we built it

Frontend: built with ReactJS (Javascript, HTML/CSS), implemented MapBox API

Backend: Express.JS and Node.JS, used Autocode to make requests to OpenAI(GPT-3) and Typeform Response API

Challenges we ran into

  • Connecting the dataset collected from the TypeForm survey to interact with Autocode's interface
  • Creating responsive designs with React in the limited time given

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Used Autocode, an automation software that allowed us to connect APIs instantly and support OpenAI and TypeForm with its features
  • Challenging ourselves to learn new languages and frameworks while creating a fully functioning website in less than 24 hours

What we learned

  • Improved our technical front-end skills while learning new technologies to become better familiar with APIs and artificial intelligence

What's next for Plannect

  • Convert to Mobile App (Street Mode): let app run in the background of your mobile device and start meeting new people live anytime, anywhere while walking down the street (expanding the use to conferences and school campuses into everyday life with emphasis on privacy protection)
  • Social page where you can see who your friends have matched with and what they're talking about, providing you with inspiration and motivation to keep expanding your social circle and sharing knowledge with more people
