Inspiration

Short-form media has taken over nearly every major platform — and its influence is only growing. With endless opportunities for creativity and engagement across diverse content types, we wanted to build a streamlined toolbox that empowers creators to save time on editing while building their personal brand across platforms.

What it does

ClipForge simplifies the process of creating viral short-form content. Users upload a long-form video (e.g. a YouTube video), and ClipForge takes care of the rest — detecting high-impact, engaging moments, editing them, and automatically posting to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok.

How we built it

Inspired by the cutting-edge use of AI agents by the developers at DAIN, we set out to build a smart web service powered by their platform. Our core pipeline is built using Python, leveraging various libraries to detect highlights, edit videos, and interface with social media APIs. These scripts are integrated into DAIN’s framework, enabling us to orchestrate an end-to-end system that delivers high-performing clips to the top short-form platforms.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was navigating the complex documentation and permissions involved in working with social media APIs. We also ran into dependency issues while experimenting with video processing libraries. It took hours of research, testing, and iteration — but each roadblock helped us refine our understanding and build a more robust system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re incredibly proud of what we were able to build in a short amount of time — especially while working with a powerful but relatively new platform like DAIN. Unlocking its potential was challenging, but ultimately rewarding. Seeing our full pipeline come together felt like a breakthrough moment.

What we learned

We gained a deep appreciation for the versatility of AI agents and how they can be orchestrated to solve real-world problems. Our final product looks different from our initial vision — but that evolution came from countless experiments, failures, and refinements. We learned to stay flexible, curious, and persistent.

What's next for ClipForge

  • Customizability: We currently display only one auto-selected highlight, but we’re already generating multiple options behind the scenes. Next, we plan to give users the ability to choose their preferred clip from several top picks.
  • Scalability: Our highlight detection is limited by the current API. By fine-tuning models on specific content types (e.g. GRWM, gaming, vlogs, podcasts), we can offer tailored results for every creator.
  • Cross-Platform Analytics: While social platforms offer built-in insights, they’re often siloed. We envision an analytics dashboard that unifies performance data across platforms — helping creators track growth and optimize content strategy from a single hub.
