Inspiration

Not much research has focused on adapting Transformers for the explicit purpose of poem generation. There was a wave of pre-Attention papers (Char-RNN and the like) from ~4 years ago that appeared to be promising, but lacked creative finesse in their poem generation. More recent work have not made their model weights publicly available, so I decided to see how far I could get without any training at all, i.e. by simply using OpenAI’s hosted GPT-3 model.

How we built it

Started from the Dasha AI blank slate application and adapted from there. Hooked in OpenAI’s API as necessary to produce the generated poems.

Challenges we ran into

• Integrating API’s
• Figuring out DashaScript
• Doing this when my WiFi was intermittently phasing in/out

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’ve single-handedly eliminated writer’s block. Cheers to more net creative output!

What's next for Quillio

Having a nice front-end. Also going to do real research to figure out the more rigorous ways of controlling emotion/generation.
