Inspiration
How cool would it be to be able to listen to different parts of a song and actually see them play while learning about instruments that you have never heard before!
What it does
Quintessence provides a totally immersive experience of music through virtual reality. You can choose what parts of the music you want to hear/mute and see the effect of your choice; you can also learn about instruments simply by playing with it in combination with other instruments; you can give instructions to the musicians with voice control!
How we built it
We used Unity for our project, working with C# in terms of the programming language. It runs on a mobile device through Google Cardboard.
Challenges we ran into
Calculations of angles and positions in 3D are very tricky! In addition, it is extremely hard to implement version control with unity due to the incredibly large size of the project which cannot be synced on Github. Precision in voice accuracy was also a challenge we ran into.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
User Interface/Experience!
What we learned
How to use Unity for the first time for all of us and how to use C# for the first time for the majority of us.
What's next for Quintessence
To enlarge our music repertoire and further give users the opportunity to compose and try out different combinations of instruments on their own.
