Inspiration

The inspiration behind ReflectAI stems from the growing prevalence of virtual behavioral interviews in the modern hiring process. We recognized that job seekers face a significant challenge in mastering these interviews, which require not only the right words but also the right tone and body language. We wanted to empower job seekers by providing them with a platform to practice, improve, and receive personalized feedback on their performance. Our goal is to level the playing field and increase the chances of success for job seekers everywhere.

What it does

ReflectAI combines language analysis, prosody analysis, and facial expression analysis to offer comprehensive feedback on interview responses. Key features include:

Practice Environment: Users can simulate real interview scenarios, record their responses to common behavioral questions, and receive feedback on their performance. Multi-Modal Analysis: Our platform assesses not just what you say but how you say it and what your body language conveys. Personalized Feedback: ReflectAI provides detailed feedback and actionable recommendations to help users improve their communication skills.

How we built it

We built a React frontend connected to Firebase for storing intermediate artifacts and a backend that utilizes Hume for facial expression, prosody, and language emotion detection alongside OpenAI for feedback generation.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges were building a React frontend from scratch, and understanding all facets of the Hume API and how it would work within our application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a full-stack app from scratch that is capable of processing large artifacts (videos) in a performant manner.

What we learned

We learned how to use tools like Figma and the Hume API, and how to effectively set expectations so that we weren't overly scrunched for time.

What's next for ReflectAI

Our journey with ReflectAI is just beginning. We have ambitious plans for the future, including:

Expanding our library of interview questions and scenarios to cover a wide range of industries and job types.
Enhancing our AI models to provide even more detailed and personalized feedback.
Exploring partnerships with educational institutions and employers to integrate ReflectAI into training and hiring processes.
Continuously improving our platform based on user feedback and evolving technology to remain at the forefront of interview preparation.
