Inspiration

I was always fascinated by people using some commands in their terminal to access a remote desktop setup, it always felt like an elite hacker skill, so when I found out that Linode can enable me to do that, I jumped in straight.

What it does

It creates a remote ubuntu-desktop on the cloud while you're at your system

How we built it

There was some pretty simple stuff going on with Linode, it provided a lot of techniques and ways of achieving this. but what I did was to create a Linode and use vnc and remmina clients to do it.

Challenges we ran into

Most of the challenges were around using the terminal and constantly running into errors and undesired result, so going through each step and facing a problem and then fixing it and then moving on to the next step was definitely the biggest challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that this remote desktop can do each and everything you'd expect from a natural, at-your-hands desktop with cloud, backup, and different users with proper terminal commands so it's like the whole package, not some "quick-hack".

What we learned

I learned a lot about what Linode is , what it does and how can we use it for so many different applications.

What's next for Remote Linux Desktop using Linode

I will definitely explore it to the maximum extent and create it's best uses case(s) In the near future.
