Inspiration
I was really excited when I heard the theme was resolutions. I have been very big on self-help and goals ever since October because of a tough loss in high school soccer. We had won the state championship last year, and now had a team arguably better than last year. We lost in a big upset. Since then, I have become the best person I have ever been, reading multiple self help books, setting goals, and realizing my potential.
What it does
Resolutely is a platform that allows you to create and track goals, but more importantly, has features to help keep them motivated and coming back to complete their goals.
How we built it
I used NextJS and Firebase, my favorite combination. NextJS allowed me to easily integrate front and backend code, using React as my main driver for UI. Firebase is a backend platform that is really great for small scale projects and prototyping, which made it perfect for a short hackathon.
Challenges we ran into
Time constraint was real. Looking at my VS Code stats, I spent over 13 hours on the project, yet still faced major time crunch. I had lots of ambitions for the project, but had to cut some features short. One example is the resources page (you'll see more in the video). I would've liked to actually add resources and content to it, but had to prioritize other things first.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I think I was able to get a good quality website up and running in the short time that I had. I think my UI, and more specifically, my icon and logo designs really improved over this short period of time. Never have loved designing UI, but I can see progress in myself when I do these hackathons.
What we learned
I should've mapped out the project. I was too excited and started coding right away. Not a good idea. As said previously, I then had to prioritize some features of others, which led to the cut or incompletion of the full website.
What's next for Resolutely
I don't plan to continue development on it. It is a great side project, but not something I would pursue with time in the future.
