Inspiration
Since all of our team members are in different parts of the world, we noticed that some members have resources, such as local donation centers, that other members do not. We decided to create a website that would allow for a global network of local resource donations, which is what inspired our project.
What it does
Rethinkkably.co matches an individual with another individual or organization that is in need of food, clothing, or blood. Individuals can donate their resources to this local group, which makes the process smoother for all parties.
How we built it
We know that donations are often made by older people, so we designed our website to only contain one page for easy accessibility. We also chose a warm color scheme to make the website warm and welcoming.
Challenges we ran into
Framing and making the base website was the hardest part, after that it became really easy
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to create the fully-functioning demo version of Rethinkkably.co. We have created all the necessary pages and tailored our creation in preparation for potential user interaction.
What we learned
When brainstorming, we discussed the donation systems in each of our countries and through that we learnt a lot about each other's cultures. When developing the website, some of our members have not used React before so we had to learn as we go. We also discovered a lot of existing APIs when we are researching how the website could be deployed in reality.
What's next for Rethinkkably.co
In the future, we are planning to create a tangible donation system, since we do not have that infrastructure available now. We want to use an API to match individuals to those in need and to facilitate the donation process.
