Inspiration
In our team, several members are university lecturers facing the challenging task of manually grading a vast number of assignments. This process can often be time-consuming and prone to errors, inspiring us to find a more efficient solution.
What it does
Our system leverages AI to automatically evaluate complex assignments such as UX designs, electrical installations, and technical drawings. It provides instant feedback, reducing the workload on educators and enhancing the learning experience for students by offering timely and objective evaluations.
How we built it
The project began with conceptual sketches on paper, followed by a design prototype in Figma. We gradually developed scripts for the evaluation process and then implemented the frontend and backend. Additionally, we integrated Auth0 to tackle a side challenge, enhancing our system's security and user management.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was limiting the file size and token count in submissions to ensure efficient processing without compromising on the quality of evaluations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are particularly proud of successfully integrating Auth0, which was a significant achievement for us. Moreover, we implemented various safeguards, such as file compression, to optimize performance and user experience.
What we learned
Throughout this project, we learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and staying hydrated. Working together towards a common goal, we discovered new solutions and overcame obstacles, reinforcing the value of collaboration and resilience.
What's next for Ring
Our next steps involve expanding the application's implementation and testing it with real-world assignments from our courses. This will allow us to refine our system and further tailor it to meet the educational needs of both teachers and students.
