Inspiration
Scaling any sort of online presence is difficult. Reaching an audience is hard enough, but often times the smaller brands are yet to understand themselves. That's where ShopEcho arrives. ShopEcho helps vendors find their own identity and assists them with turning themselves from 0->1.
What it does
ShopEcho understands your brand before you do and helps you scale in that direction. Using the Shopify API, ShopEcho can understand your target audience and market direction. Take full advantage of ShopEcho by reading your manifestation, and finding trends that directly align with your core identity. Furthermore, see MVPs for possible viral content, as well as quickly draft mass email campaigns at the press of a button. ShopEcho is here to scale your business while staying true to your mission and brand statement.
How we built it
Backboard.io acts as the MCP for our AI agent, operating continuously in the background to keep your identity manifesto accurate. Easily upload and watch videos in-app while TwelveLabs performs a brand diagnosis and Backboard compares it to your manifesto. ShopEcho then decides if that style of content would be in line with your identity. If it is, ShopEcho leverages the agent alongside ElevenLabs to generate a fully voice-acted short-form piece of content to use as inspiration or to be presented directly. Furthermore, consult Backboard's AI memory and writing mode to draft a quick email to amass a new audience of people with shared values.
Challenges we ran into
Neither of us have ever worked with the Shopify techstack, let alone their dev tools. For a period of time we wanted to use the manifesto to run a targeted campaign, but most of their documentation wasn't very accurate. We had to make the tough decision of pivotting into content generation, which has its own pile of technical problems. In the end we managed to overcome the odds and provide a comprehensive tool for budding merchants to grow their brand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a team of 2, we really only had half the brainpower to ideate and execute our vision in the short timespan. We're proud of landing on a concept that we believed in and we leveraged AI as a force multiplier to make up for the lack of physical hands and keyboards. This project was also completely out of our comfort zones; we had to pick up the Shopify tech stack in a matter of hours and also learn the basics of agentic AI. Every breakthrough was a massive learning experience.
What we learned
As previously mentioned, with half the size of a regular hackathon team and our (somewhat) overlapping experience, we had to iterate fast and learn faster. We learned to ship quickly and put aside our desires to make things "perfect", when "good enough" had to suffice. Diving into unknown spaces without full understand and breaking stuff is greatly in the spirit of the hackathon, and we've definitely walked away with a better understanding of each other and how differing styles can not only clash but also raise each other up.
What's next for ShopEcho
We're looking to add more context to make the design manifesto more accurate. We also want to scale the video generation to be quicker with more variety, as well as possibly generate longer-form content. Finally, it would be nice to actually add the campaign integration.
