Inspiration

We were inspired by the rocket jumping physics in Team Fortress 2 and the bullet time physics in Breath of the Wild and SUPERHOT, so we decided to make a short game combining these two ideas.

What it does

It is a platformer where you have a rocket launcher and you can use it to boost yourself to new heights!

How I built it

In 24 hours in unity 2017.2

Challenges I ran into

I ran into challenges in both making the rocket point towards the cursor and another projectile reflection script that we decided to add later for a full release (steam, hopefully). It took a very long time to figure out, but with the help of the mentors, I was able to overcome these issues and make the game run well.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud of the achievements system. These variables are stored across scenes, and they will stay saved even when you close the program! This took a good bit of time and some tweaking to a position saving script, but I was very proud to invent this system! It gives fun new ways to play and a way to keep track of what you have done!

What I learned

I have learned about making objects point towards other objects, a lot more about calculating velocities, and about calculating reflection angles!

What's next for Rocket Escape

We'll flesh it out with more levels, gimmicks, and achievements, and we will release it on Steam!
