Inspiration

We wanted to demonstrate how property could be bought and sold in a way which could lower the barriers of entry for a new generation of home buyers.

What it does

The product at its current stage of development demonstrates how agents, buyers and property owners can have a platform to deal with fractional ownership via tax effective put and call option rights over property. The application allows parties to list property on a secondary market and fractionalizes the property sale, tax effectively (no stamp duty) no sub division. The application demonstrates how SettlementRules and AssetDeposits from the DA.Finance.Library could be leveraged to give buyers the right to buy or sell a fraction of the property for a market value amount in the future.

How we built it

We built the backend using DAML and developed the frontend with react

Challenges we ran into

We did not have enough time unfortunately to explore connecting the intended frontend with the backend currently running on DAML hub. We also realized that we may need a solution in-between to handle file storage.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to demonstrate to a considerable extent how we could have PropertyInformation templates with choices to support the functionality we intend to develop in the coming months. We were also happy to learn about how fractional ownership of property with DAML could look like. We were also pleased to learn about Digital Asset's Finance library and identify certain models we could explore further.

From our market research, we realized the impact our solution could have. We also developed a better understanding of what may be required for a proper setup

We aim to have an MVP integrated and deployed on DAML Hub by Q1 2022
