RxReader

Inspiration

We noticed that 55% of the elderly population across America take their medication incorrectly. This leads to on average about 1 or more deaths a day. 70% of Medication errors are due to illiteracy, as patients don't remember how the doctor had said to take the medication, or are unable to read the amount of dosage. We created RxReader for the elderly community with a simple, yet effective solution.

What it does

With RxReader it allows the user to do a quick scan of their medication and receive an instant translation into their native language. It also gives a clear, easy-to-understand explanation of how the medication works and how to take it correctly.

We are proud of being able to integrate so many separate functions into one encapsulated web app

We learned how to use OCR recognition technology and LLMs in conjunction.
