Inspiration
We interpreted the theme, of "reimagining community" in terms of food. Sharing food from various cultures with one another brings people together. Going out for dinner or grabbing a sweet treat are the most common ways to socialize and have a good conversation.
What it does
Saucer can also be a side hustle for people who enjoy cooking and would love to share their food with the community. Due to inflation, many people are struggling with expensive groceries. Large franchises often serve unhealthy food and consumers are looking for authentic options. Saucer could be their solution. Individual sellers/buyers, small businesses, local farms/bakeries, etc. are all welcome. We tried to design an app that makes everyone feel like they can contribute and be more involved in the community.
How we built it
We used software like Figma and Canva to design the logo and the prototyped app.
Challenges we ran into
How do we bring people together? How do we deal with food safety and security? How do we build trust among users?
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We like how the app looks (visuals, structure, colors) and how we were able to communicate and work together as a team.
What we learned
Make good lo-fis before moving on to hi-fis. Brainstorming the app extensively helps plan out the necessary buttons and text when creating the lo-fi and hi-fi. Creating a color, spacing, and text size guide ensures consistency within the app.
What's next for Saucer
Create an explore page for algorithmic discovery of new foods across the nation.
