Drive luxury electric vehicles at any time without the hassle of monthly maintenance and the giant price tag. Drive sustainably with Select: a car share app for Lexus and Toyota vehicles.
Inspiration we have a vision of a rideshare app that allows users to have their own electric car for occasional daily use. This makes it accessible to not only try out an EV from Lexus or Toyota, but also travel sustainably. This will create a more sustainable mode of transport and encourage more people to go electric or hybrid.
What it does: The app will find the closest luxury electric vehicles near you. Select from a list of vehicles with a list of descriptive features of the specific vehicle. The user can then rent the car and the app will track how many miles and time inside the car. Once the user is done with the car, the app will automatically calculate to total cost and reward points based on how much carbon the user saved from the atmosphere by choosing to drive with Select by Lexus.
How we built it We used our resources accessible to us and skillsets to compile an impressive slide set and mainly will focus on the presentation of the idea rather than the functionality of our app.
Challenges we ran into there were a lot of learning difficulties with react so we ended up using photoshop and slides to create our app concepts. We wish we had more app development experience and time to create more visual and interactive applications.

What's next for Select by Lexus once there are autonomous vehicles we can have the cars drive up to the user and drive back to a charging station automatically at the end of the trip.
