Inspiration
According to The New York Times, $100-289 billion is lost to the U.S. health system each year due to patients’ inabilities to comply to routine schedules for taking medication. In the twenty-first century, we are constantly looking for social interaction by means of the most novel interactive technologies: We also often have personal information we would like to share with others, sometimes with those we are dependent on. From friends, to doctors, to caregivers, ShareCare mitigates the process of sharing potentially sensitive health information.
What it does
ShareCare is a social-health application that allows users to share their personal schedules with others. It’s an interactive experience allowing for users to share schedules and a health status.
How we built it
We coded the app in React Native.
Challenges we ran into
While most of our team had experience coding in Python or Java, we were unfamiliar with JavaScript or coding an app; the concept of coding through a framework such as React Native was especially foreign to us. The process of troubleshooting our work and solidifying our ideas took much time that was very limited.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We constructed a demo that communicated our ideas and their applications. This included the cyclic yet fun process of brainstorming, creating, designing, and finalizing our ideas.
What we learned
In addition to the coding under unfamiliar environments, the process of collaboration was even more important for accessing resources such as a mentor and time efficiently.
What's next for ShareCare
We want to integrate a cohesive social integration of sharing into important personal information others need. Practically speaking, we also need to build out the scheduling and secure sharing components of the app.
