How does it work you ask ?
- Take a picture of your grocery receipt and Shelf grabs items off your receipt and creates a virtual pantry.
- Now Shelf knows whats in your pantry and tells you what you have and what you're going to soon run out of.
- The pantry learns your consumption patterns and estimates the current state of the pantry.
What's more - Use our Shelf app on your pebble and get instant push notifications on items that are running low in your pantry for a quick peak into your pantry on your next visit to the grocery store. Isn't that putting technology to good use!!!

How it works ?
- The iOS app takes an image and uses Tesseract OCR API to do optical character recognition on it.
- After extracting items from the recognized receipt image, a virtual pantry is created with the items purchased.
- Item lifetimes are calculated as a difference of purchase dates for the same items. Subsequent purchases are used to calculate a weighted mean of item lifetimes to predict the future lifetimes of grocery items.
- The iOS app also communicates with the Pebble app to push notifications for the top items that the user's pantry is low on. It also sends the expected number of days that each item will ran out in.
