Inspiration

We were driven to create the web app ShellSavings.tech because of our passion for helping others plan for and navigate the retirement process. As college students, we did not initially think about planning to retire at this point in time but came to realize that it is a necessary element to living a better, more enjoyable life in the future. We now not only think about the near future such as getting a satisfying career but also came to realize the importance of planning our long-term path in life, which centrally includes getting to retirement.

What it does

Our website allows younger individuals and Gen Z to visually understand more about how they can start taking tiny steps now to retire comfortably later.

How we built it

We used the full-stack platform, Wix Velo, to build the front and back-end web component. We mainly focused on the user experience and learned how to scale the website in the future.

-Integrating Twilio Automatic texts for users who sign-up for our web app -Creating an API

-Emmanuel and Judy: Completing our First Hackathon!! -Arianna: Learning about all the tools out there for web development and trying out new things!

What we learned

We learned how important it is to be open to trying out new tools. The tech world is rapidly changing, and in order to keep up, it is vital to maintain an open mindset and explore new things.

What's next for Shell Savings

We are excited to continue scaling this website to include: automatic weekly Turtletirement SMS Tips, and a personalize retirement plan.
