Inspiration

I got inspired by the emerging workforce in the Web3 ecosystem, the eagerness of alot of web2 developers yearning to learn about web3, as well as earn and the blockchain ecosystem. With this we got inspired with the fact that as the blockchain adoption keeps expanding so will the workforce. This workforce have to be able to earn in cryptocurrencies for their services. Cryptocurrency has offered us a free, Transparent and decentralized means of payment, a means of payment that will caught short excessive transaction fees. And with this facts we have been inspired to help our users reduce the excessive charges by most of the existent freelancing platforms such as Fiverr, Upwork etc, thus using the power of the blockchain, we can help our users keep almost all the charges from their gigs. With the blockchain Technology there won't be any boundaries to anyone who wants to earn with their skills. We want to give our users a robustic platform were they can learn and earn at the same time, help onboard the web2 developers into web3, as well as help newbies that want to acquire new skills to learn and earn from our platform.

What it does

SkillPay is a decentralized freelancing platform, which will connect employers with employees, were freelancers with any skill set can get directly employed or get paid on part-time jobs, Full-time jobs and contract jobs. freelancers will be able to get direct market to sale their ready-made dapps, smart contracts, mobile apps, templates etc. Their payments will be secured through the blockchain, no insane deductions from their sales or jobs done. The payment will be handled by independent escrow contracts which will handle every payment for our employers and employees.

Problem Statement

Looking at the excessive fees that most of the existent Freelancing sites charge from clients and freelancers. They charge whooping 20% from freelancers leaving them with only %80 of their gig earnings, charge clients 5% of the transaction amount just to post jobs. This is certainly an eminent problem to be addressed. Thus using the power of the blockchain, we seek to address this problem and help our users earn efficiently and keep almost all the earnings for their jobs and also help our employers post jobs at little or no cost.
Most of the existent freelancing platforms make search for jobs or getting jobs so complicated, that as a freelancer, you can stay for months without getting biddings or gigs, the policies get so strict for users, thus creating a problem instead of solving them. We intend to make getting gigs as seemless and swift as possible. They won't be complications in payments as our users will be earning based on milestones and they will be able withdraw their earnings after every milestone completions.
The problem of dispute in payments won't be found as they will be an escrow contract which will handle every payment, the employer will fund this contract at the start of every job.

How we built it

We are utilizing the power of the blockchain to build a decentralized freelancing platform. We used solidity to build the smartcontract, NextJs and Typescript to build the frontend, IPfs and MongoDB for storage purposes.
