Inspiration

As past students and educators, we ran into many problems and struggles when attempting to learn new skills or receive education. Solutions were often costly, timely and lacked official verifiable documentation. Platforms also lacked engagement and we believed that through web3, there could be a better solution.

What it does

Skillshare DAO connects learners and teachers on a platform in web3. Users can hop on the platform to create an account and get connected with Teachers who post their courses, with hourly rates and details about what they have to offer. Users can then book times with the teachers directly on the marketplace.

How we built it

We built Skillshare with React, Typescript for the front end and integrated with the NEAR SDK with Mintbase to save on time.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues with development and typescript packages causing many slowdowns during the hackathon. We also had challenges on the business side creating a viable model and creating our business use cases, with many competitors in the Web2 space we had to be competitive in offering better services in Web3.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re incredibly proud of having shipped a product in half the time as we were each on different teams and came together mid way through the hackathon.

What we learned

We learned that bigger groups may not necessarily be better for hackathons and that coming prepared can increase our chance for success.

What's next for Skillshare DAO

Skillshare DAO is aiming to pitch to investors at NEARCON and seek funding if possible. Otherwise! We hope that we serve as inspiration for other projects on the platform.
